My Story or ABOUT or ABOUT BEC # 2
I am a certified Soul Coach® Practitioner, Holistic Mentor, Sacred Way Workshops, Lover of Nature, Stars and Laughter. shamanic practitioner humourous educator and spiritual seeker. My 'heart roots' are steeped in shamanic wisdom and understanding of the universe. passion for the unseen world...what is behind. My honouring below. We are a culmination of all those beings who have touched our lives, whether seen or unseen, with wings, I value honesty, compassion and being genuine above all else. I've had many profound experiences and learnings from so many people, both seen and unseen, through my life.Kinship with all life. Interconnected to all things. |
Since childhood, I have been blessed with a quirky sense of humour - My Saving Grace. Through my life I have had many transformational journeys, both inward and outward, that have led to a deeper understanding of the Sacred. Without the gift of humour and the Sacred Clown as a helper, those journeys could have been tougher. The Soul-Thread that weaves through those experiences created a multidimensional and rich inner tapestry - expansions of heart, mind, body and soul. I have always, and will continue to be, deeply passionate and respectful about Indigenous wisdom and spirituality. The Ancient Ones and their wisdom move my Soul and direct my heart, head and hands in ways that I am deeply and eternally grateful.
TWO RIVERS, GREENIES AND TREE-HUGGERS
I was born in Eugene, Oregon, USA - a magical town where two rivers meet, surrounded by rolling mountains, cedar trees, cougars and chipmunks. Eugene is a most unusual multicultural town where Rednecks, Greenies, Business Folks, Grateful Dead followers, Alien believers, Farmers, Artists and those with alternative lifestyles meet in the same coffee house. I am a proud Oregon tree-hugger, whose family was in the timber and aviation security industry for over 55 years, where I was immersed in small business from an early age. In this life, I am of Norwegian and English/Scottish heritage, with a few unknowns from South Dakota.
While I am not Native American, I have always led a life very close to Spirit and Nature. Growing up I prefered to be outdoors in Nature, rather than inside four walls and a roof. My greatest joys were being and chatting with the trees, rivers, rocks, little people and animals and riding my motorcycle or horse.
While I never was introduced to formalized religion, I was raised by intuitive/spiritual & scientific parents who believed that "God was in Nature and Nature was good" and "Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love." With that foundation, my young curiosity in the essential nature of all things, later developed into a passion for Indigenous Wisdom, Shamanism, Nature's healing, transpersonal psychology and an ongoing inner Quest for the Sacred.
PEACEMAKERS AND WARRIORS
My brother was (and always will be) a Marine. He became a warrior too young and lost his innocence in the world. His journey of coming back to himself was a tough one, but it urged me to learn about being a warrior and a peacemaker, simultaneously. The two aren't polar opposites. They carry the essence of spirit and the wisdom resides in knowing how walk with our feet in both worlds and apply their wisdom.
EXISTENTIAL ANGST AND THE DIVINE
While studying to be an art teacher in college late one night (where I felt I could empower others through artistic expression), I was in one of those existential collegiate moments of angst. I went on a long 'soul searching' walk on campus and sychronistically met a friend. We had a profound chat and coming back to my room, had a seriously spiritual moment - a "Divine meeting" with a Being. It was incredibly profound, moving me beyond anything I had known or experienced. Searching for meaning I went to this church and that church, but they were all competing as to who was more Holy by carrying the Real and Only Truth, but none of them could offer me any understanding or wisdom about my experiences.
So I dove into studies and collegiate volleyball, track and women's football. I also joined a Sorority (much to the surprise of everyone to this day, because I'm independent!), but I learned about the joys of living together in community in a harmonious way. I still can't share our initiation with anyone...or you'd have to be sent to Siberia.
PUMPING GAS, CLOWNING AND FLYING FREE
After graduating from Oregon State University, I happily pumped aviation gas, washed windows and mowed lawns at a local airport. This quickly lead me to becoming one of the first women general aviation Airport Managers and Air Show Directors in the United States. In the midst of my aviation career, I formalized by clowning and helped fundraising for a number of charities.
But through my more serious work and unique contributions to the aviation industry and local community, I was honoured to be chosen for the prestigious Who’s Who in the World. However, one of my most valued memories was flying our red and white Piper Super Cub in Oregon, door wide open and eating blueberries with a dear friend at 1500 ft while gazing at Three Sisters mountain range.
I was being groomed up the aviation ladder and had just been offered a significant position, but was gifted with a most flamboyant spiritual crisis. Defying worldly logic and almost everyone's disbelief, I followed my heart to England.
THE LAND OF CAMELOT AND SEEING BEYOND THE MATERIAL
I studied Steiner/Waldorf Education and Social Evolution through Voice and Music. (yes, weird and wonderful!) I became a card-carrying Anthroposophist, immersing myself in the works of Rudolf Steiner and am deeply grateful for that time of alchemical transformation of the Soul. Because of my ability to 'live in both worlds', I was blessed to be the first student in Emerson College's history to be invited to participate within the College of Teachers while still being a student - offering new directions in public relations and managing their summer conferences.
While in England I also studied at Findhorn and journeyed to sacred sites such as Glastonbury, Stonehenge and parts of Europe - sometimes as a solo spiritual pilgrimage and othertimes with good friends. I became immersed in the magic and honour of Camelot and metaphysical Christianity. In the midst, I became passionate about the mythology of the Sacred Clown - The Fool, for it's ancient wisdom through humour.
With another turn of the Wheel, I first met Denise Linn (Cherokee) at a Mind Body Spirit Festival in London. It was transformational to say the least. On the train home to Sussex, my pants split (and not in a good spot) and the heal came off one of my boots. She did say that "outer things change, when you've had a change of heart and mind!"
TURTLE ISLAND'S CALL
I returned to the states and lived on a houseboat to study Medicine Wheel Trainings and Four Directions Healing with Denise and also working at Seattle's largest metaphysical bookshop. The gift of going back to the Northwest, brought me Full Circle and returned my soul into the heart of Indigenous wisdom.
DREAMING THE LAND DOWN UNDER
With yet another rather dramatic continental shift to Australia, my dear friend and I created Native Journeys, a business honoring Native American and Aboriginal philosophy through retail, wholesale and workshops. We traveled through many reservations, meeting real people with real issues who offered us friendship and authentic, handmade arts and crafts. We were a bridge between the romance of following Native spiritual practices and honouring those First Nations here and now. The journey of the Sacred Clown continued.
WORLD PEACE AND PRAYER DAY
I was honoured to be a core team member for World Peace and Prayer Day in Austraila with Chief Arvol Looking Horse - Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Woman Pipe Bundle and many other indigenous elders from Australia, USA and New Zealand. My heart has walked closely with the bundle for along time. I've particpated and assisted in Ceremony and have been involved with First Nations people for over 30 years. I am deeply honored and humbled with several names given by Indigenous Elders and have been invited into community.
THE PRESENT MOMENT UNFOLDING
I work with intuition, spiritual guidance, heart felt observation and 'technical' modalities to assist you on your journey towards freedom. I am now blessed to be one of a number of people worldwide who have been chosen and trained by Denise Linn as a Certified Soul Coach®, which synthesizes my life's passions, experiences, studies and beliefs. I'm an educator and mentor, Certified Soul Coach®, Drum Maker, Advanced Psych-K Practitioner, Reiki Practitiioner, Past Life Regressionist, as well as having training in Australian Bush Flowers and Steiner Voice and other modalities.
I am currently a member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, International Institute for Complementary Therapists and Society for Shamanic Practitioners. I love to camp, fly fish, read, contemplate, chat and laugh with my family and friends.
AN HONOURING....
While we enter and leave this earth on our own, we are never alone on this journey called life. We have helpers all along the way, both in the physical, as well as the spiritual.
I honour those four leggeds for their intuitive, playful and loving teachings. (Nicky the Poodle - for being my first way-shower as a clown, Samantha the Cat - for showing me what relaxation and independence felt like, Pitiful Pearl, Heidi and the Sheep, for demonstrating what it meant to 'romp and butt heads' with glee, Dusty the Horse - for turning around and coming back for me when I fell off, Kip the Setter - for being regal, sophisticated and silly at the same time, Simba the Cat - for being groovy, cuddley and a way shower in adversity and Harley the Kelpie - for his humour, loving and knowing as a human in a dogs body.
Through the years, I have also come to honour those who have 'kicked by bum' and/or been illusory adversaries, for without your prodings I would never have intensified by quest for greater understanding.
I deeply appreciate and honour those two legged dear friends, family, and unknowns who have, through their words, actions of love, and wisdom, guided both my inner and outer life in ways I could never have imagined on my own.
Though some of you are still alive and kicking and others have passed to Spirit, may I continue to honour your gifts through being open to the world of Spirit and Soul - ever learning, ever giving, ever growing and ever loving.
