A LITTLE HISTORY:
For many, many years in Melbourne Australia, we had a unique retail shop called Native Journeys. We offered authentic First Nations arts and crafts and supportive materials. We purchased from individual indigenous artists, indigenous community cooperatives and in the USA, reputable family operated secondhand (pawn) shops
We were also more than a retail presence. Folks expressed that when they came into the shop, they were offered another 'place in time' - a quiet spiritual refuge and touchstone to reconnect to their spiritual centres, to nature, to the elders and culture. It was a shared respectful space of long deep conversations, tears and laughter..
THIS WON"T BE YOUR USUAL SHOP
This isn't going to be your usual online shop, but hopefully more like the experience you might have when you wander into a roadside market stall and just have to stop. We will offer traditional First Nations arts and crafts that will only become available as we source what we love and then offer to you. Many of those items will be one of a kind, some will come and go and occasionally we will have different things We will also offer non-traditional arts and crafts, books and other support materials for your journey. Any non-native arts and crafts for sale will be clearly identified as such.
A LIVING RELATIONSHIP
First Nations arts and crafts are a physical expression of a living spiritual relationship and connectedness with land, waters and all life. The artists individual creation merges with the stories and traditional wisdom of ancestral knowledge bringing life and breath to each craft.
